Trusty Pigeon

Hear your email, and every page attached to it.

Ask for your email out loud. Trusty Pigeon reads it to you, along with the bills, letters, and forms attached to it. It reads every reply back and asks for your yes before sending.

Made for blind and low-vision people, and anyone who would rather listen. Use it in our iPhone app, or in Claude or ChatGPT.

  • Free during the beta
  • Works with VoiceOver
  • Reads PDFs, Word files, and scans
A morning with Trusty Pigeon Example conversations
  1. You

    Anything important today?

  2. Trusty Pigeon

Three new. One needs you: your pharmacy says a prescription is ready to refill. The other two are newsletters.

  3. You

    Read the pharmacy one.

  4. Trusty Pigeon

From your health plan's pharmacy, this morning. It says: "Your prescription for atorvastatin, 20 milligram tablets, is ready to refill. Order by Friday, October 30th, to get it by mail." There's an Order Refill button in the email. I don't press buttons or links in email, to keep you safe from scams. The email also lists the pharmacy's phone number. Want to hear it?

  5. You

    Yes, slowly.

  6. Trusty Pigeon

Eight hundred. Five five five. Zero one nine nine. Want me to say it again?

Nobody else has to read your mail to you.

Ask for your email the way you'd ask a person. Trusty Pigeon does the looking, the reading, and the sorting.

It tells you what matters first

You hear the count, then who it's from, then the gist. Real people and bills come before store emails. You decide what to open.

It opens the attachments, too

The statement, the letter from your doctor, the form from the building office. It tells you what each one is and reads it page by page.

It skips the clutter

Long signatures, legal fine print, tracking links, and buttons that only say "click here". You hear the message, not the junk around it.

  • Signatures
  • Legal footers
  • Tracking links

You stay in charge

Before anything goes out, it reads your whole reply back to you and waits for your yes. If it isn't sure what you meant, it asks.

The papers inside your email, read like a book.

Bills, insurance letters, and forms often arrive as attachments that screen readers struggle with. Trusty Pigeon reads them to you a page at a time, and you can stop, skip, or ask a question whenever you like.

Know what it is in 20 seconds

What it is, who sent it, and the one or two facts that matter, with the page they're on.

A 6-page bank statement. Payment due Wednesday, November 5th.

Exact words for the numbers

Amounts, dates, doses, and deadlines are read from the document's own words, not a summary. If something isn't in the document, it says so instead of guessing.

On page 1 it says Minimum Payment Due: $35.00.

Move around and ask questions

Hear the parts, jump to a page, or ask a question. Answers come with the page, so you can hear the original. It remembers your place.

That's on page 7. Want me to read that part?

Tables and forms, out loud

Tables are read row by row, like a person would say them. For a paper form, it tells you how long it is and goes through the questions a few at a time.

A 2-page application. It asks about 30 questions.

Scanned pages and photos

A scanned letter or a photo of a page is read out, and pictures are described.

A photo of a flyer for a building meeting, Thursday at 6 PM.

A warning when something looks wrong

It tells you plainly when an attachment looks like a scam. It won't open file types that can harm your phone.

This bill asks you to pay with gift cards. That's a common scam.

  • PDFs
  • Word documents
  • Spreadsheets
  • Calendar invites
  • Scanned pages
  • Photos

Three ways in. Pick the one that works best for you.

It's the same Trusty Pigeon and the same account in each. Set it up once and use any of them.

Trusty Pigeon for iPhone

Beta coming soon

Open it and talk. Built for VoiceOver from the first screen, with Clear mode, a speaking speed you set, and Face ID unlock right in the app. If you want, it remembers your conversations.

This opens your email app with a request to join, ready to send. We'll email you an invite to try the app through TestFlight, Apple's app for early versions. Blind and low-vision testers are invited first.

In Claude

Works today
  1. In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Trusty Pigeon and paste this address:
    https://app.trustypigeon.com/mcp
  4. Sign in, then say "Ask Trusty Pigeon what's new."

Works on the web, the desktop app, and the Claude phone app.

In ChatGPT

Works today
  1. On the web, go to chatgpt.com/plugins.
  2. Choose +, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Name it Trusty Pigeon, paste the address, and for sign-in choose OAuth:
    https://app.trustypigeon.com/mcp
  4. In a chat, type @ and pick Trusty Pigeon.

Check your plan. Sending and deleting need ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, or Edu. On Pro it can read your mail but not send. The free plan can't add it.

Set it up once. About ten minutes.

Do it yourself, or sit down with someone you trust. After this you only talk.

  1. Make your account

Go to app.trustypigeon.com. You'll get a recovery code. Keep it somewhere safe, like a note on your phone or with someone you trust.

  2. Turn on Face ID

Or your fingerprint. You'll use it to unlock your email, so your assistant can read it.

  3. Add your email

Yahoo, iCloud, and AOL need an app password, a special password just for Trusty Pigeon. We walk you through making one.

  4. Ask

Open the app, Claude, or ChatGPT and say "What's new in my email?"

Your mail stays yours.

Here is exactly what happens, so you don't have to take our word for it.

Your face or fingerprint is the key

Your email logins are locked. Only your Face ID, fingerprint, or recovery code can unlock them. While they're locked, not even we can open them.

You choose how long it stays open

From 30 minutes to a week. Three hours unless you pick something else.

Say Lock my email to close it right away.

It asks for your yes

Every reply is read back word for word before it's sent, and it asks for a clear yes before sending or deleting. Deleted mail goes to your trash, where most email services keep it for a while.

Your documents aren't kept

Attachments are opened only while you listen and are cleared when you lock. Account numbers are read as the last 4 digits unless you ask for more.

See everything it did

A plain list on your account page, newest first.

Like Sent a reply to Linda Chen at 2:10 PM.

It never asks for your password

If anyone asks for your email password in a conversation, it isn't us. You add email accounts only on our account page.

Two things to know. First, if you use Claude or ChatGPT, that assistant sees the messages you ask about, under its own privacy rules. Second, to read scanned pages and photos, we send them to Google's Gemini to be read. You can turn that off on your account page. We don't store your emails.

In the iPhone app

It can remember, if you want it to.

Turn on memory and the app picks up where you left off: the email you were waiting for, the reply you meant to send, the name you call your daughter.

It's off until you say yes. It learns your preferences only from what you say, never from what an email says. What it keeps is locked to you. You can ask what it remembers, or tell it to forget, at any time. We never store conversations from Claude or ChatGPT.

  • What do you remember about me?
  • Remember that I take the bus on Tuesdays.
  • Forget about the pharmacy. It tells you what it found and asks before forgetting.
  • Welcome back: This morning you were waiting for the refill email from the pharmacy. It came in at 2:10. Want to hear it?

Setting this up for a parent?

Spend ten minutes together, then they handle their own mail, including the statements, insurance letters, and forms you've been reading to them over the phone. It's their tool, on their phone, answering to their voice. You don't see their email.

The activity list shows what Trusty Pigeon did, so they can check it any time.

Questions people ask

What is Trusty Pigeon?

Trusty Pigeon is a voice-first email assistant made for blind and low-vision people, and anyone who would rather listen. You ask for your email out loud, and it reads your messages to you, along with the bills, letters, and forms attached to them. It reads every reply back and asks for your yes before sending. You can use it in our iPhone app, or in Claude or ChatGPT.

Does it replace VoiceOver or my screen reader?

No. It works alongside the screen reader and voice tools you already use. Trusty Pigeon handles your email; VoiceOver keeps handling everything else.

Do I need to be good with technology?

No. Setup takes about ten minutes, once. After that you talk to it like you'd talk to a person: "Anything from my daughter?" or "Read the newest one."

What kinds of attachments can it read?

PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets, calendar invites, scanned pages, and photos. Long documents are split into parts you can jump between. It won't open files that could harm your phone, and it tells you why.

Can it read bills, statements, and scanned letters aloud?

Yes. It opens the attachment, tells you what it is and who sent it, and reads it to you a page at a time. Amounts, dates, and deadlines are read from the document's own words, with the page they're on. Scanned letters and photos of pages are read too, and pictures are described.

Could it get a number wrong?

For amounts, dates, doses, and deadlines it reads the exact words from the document and tells you the page, rather than putting them in its own words. Its short summary is only a summary, so for anything important, ask "read me exactly what it says". Scanned pages are harder to read than typed ones, and it tells you when a page is a scan.

Can it fill in a form for me?

Not yet. It tells you what a form asks, a few questions at a time, and where to send it. Filling it in is still up to you or someone you trust.

What if it mishears me?

Anything that sends, moves, or deletes mail is repeated back to you first. If your answer isn't a clear yes, nothing happens. If it isn't sure which message you mean, it asks.

Can Trusty Pigeon read my email?

Only while you've unlocked it, and only to do what you asked. We fetch your mail from your provider when you ask, and we don't store your emails. Your logins stay locked with your passkey.

The assistant you use, Claude, ChatGPT, or our app's voice, sees the messages you ask about. Scanned pages and pictures are read by Google's Gemini unless you turn that off.

What does it cost?

It's free during the beta. Later there will be a simple monthly plan, and beta users will hear about it first.

Which email services work?

Yahoo, iCloud, AOL, and many other email services work today. Gmail, Outlook, and Microsoft 365 are coming soon. Not sure about yours? Join the beta and we'll tell you.

Do I need an iPhone?

No. The iPhone app is coming soon. Today you can use Trusty Pigeon in Claude, on the web, the desktop app, or the Claude phone app, or in ChatGPT, which you add on the web. ChatGPT's free plan can't add it.

Who makes Trusty Pigeon?

Trusty Pigeon is made by S Prime, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company.

Why a pigeon?

Carrier pigeons delivered messages for thousands of years, and people trusted them with the important ones. One, named Cher Ami, carried a message that saved nearly 200 soldiers in 1918. We liked the idea of a messenger you can count on.

Your messages, read aloud. Locked to you.
